Space of Soul and Sounds

After a decade-long hiatus, the choral music festival "Golden Plyos" returns in a renewed format. From September 19 to 22, with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund and the Department of Culture of the Ivanovo Region, the Regional Choral Community "Soglasie" is organizing a festival for boys' and youth choirs. This event is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the A.M. Zhukovsky Boys' Choir School, operating at the Palace of Children's Creativity in Ivanovo.

Renowned choral groups will attend the festival:

  1. The Boys' Choir School from Konakovo, led by Archpriest Vadim and Natalia Makhnovskikh.
  2. The Boys' and Youth Choir "Ladya" from Tolyatti, under the direction of Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation Galina Devyatkina.
  3. The Boys' and Youth Choir from Saint Petersburg, led by Vadim Pchelkin.

These groups are laureates of prestigious national and international competitions, and the Ivanovo boys were recognized as the best among amateur children's choirs in Russia according to the results of the 2023 All-Russian Choral Society competition.

On the banks of the Volga, in the churches of Plyos, the Levitan Cultural Center, the City House of Culture in Privolzhsk, and the Center for Culture and Leisure in Ivanovo, the ringing voices of boys will fill the air with joy and love for the Motherland. The "Golden Plyos" festival is a true celebration of choral art that you cannot miss!

History of the Festival

In September 1989, on the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, the first “Golden Plyos” Choral Music Festival was held in the picturesque town of Plyos on the Volga. It was organized by Evgeny Bobrov, the artistic director and conductor of the Chamber Choir IHTI (IGHTU), in collaboration with the Plyos Museum-Reserve. For a quarter of a century, sacred music has echoed through the ancient streets of Plyos, attracting choirs from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, Germany, England, Norway, Greece, and Bulgaria. This period marked the revival and triumph of Russian Orthodox choral culture and art.
