Where is Plyos
Plyos is a small town in the Ivanovo region of Russia. It is located on the right bank of the Volga River, 70 kilometers northeast of the city of Ivanovo.
By car
The distance from Yaroslavl to Plyos is 144 kilometers. There is a good road throughout the route. The trip takes about 2 hours. The road passes through Kostroma.
Keep in mind that during the tourist season, car traffic is restricted in the historical part of Plyos. There is a checkpoint with a barrier at the main entrance, and other entrances are blocked. You will most likely have to leave your car at one of the parking lots (some are paid) and walk to the Volga. We wrote more about this on the page how to get to Plyos by car.
By train
From Yaroslavl, you can take a train to the town of Furmanov. This is the nearest railway station to Plyos. From Furmanov, you can take a bus to Plyos.
The train ticket costs from 350 rubles (seated). The travel time is about 2 hours.
The bus from Furmanov runs daily every 2-3 hours. The ticket costs about 150 rubles. The travel time is about 1 hour.
By bus
There are no direct bus routes from Yaroslavl to Plyos.
You can buy a ticket for the Vologda - Ivanovo bus, which passes through the town of Privolzhsk, near Plyos. From there, you can take a taxi to Plyos. There is also a Yaroslavl - Yoshkar-Ola bus that passes through Privolzhsk.
Along the Volga
Unfortunately, there is currently no regular river service between Yaroslavl and Plyos on the Volga.
However, you can book a private transfer on one of the speedboats operating in Plyos. You can find available options on the page “Boat Trip in Plyos” — many boat owners are ready to organize a trip along this route.
This season, the company “Vodolyot” announced the launch of regular routes on the Volga between Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl, but unfortunately, a stop in Plyos is not included in the schedule.
By taxi
Many popular taxi aggregators operate in Yaroslavl, through which you can order a trip to Plyos. The distance from Yaroslavl to Plyos is 144 kilometers. There is a good road throughout the entire route. The trip takes about 2 hours. The cost starts from 3500 rubles.
Unlike a personal car, taxis are more likely to be allowed into the historical part of the city.
