Distance Kostroma — Plyos
The distance from Kostroma to Plyos by road is 74 km, and in a straight line - 48 km. The estimated travel time between the cities of Kostroma and Plyos by car is 1 hour and 13 minutes.
Where is Plyos
Plyos is a small town in the Ivanovo region of Russia. It is located on the right bank of the Volga River, 70 kilometers northeast of the city of Ivanovo.
By car
The distance from Kostroma to Plyos is 74 kilometers. There is a good road throughout the entire route. The trip takes about an hour.
Please note that during the tourist season, car traffic is restricted in the historical part of Plyos. A checkpoint with a barrier is installed at the main entrance to the city, and other entrances are blocked. You will most likely have to leave your car in one of the parking lots (some are paid) and walk to the Volga. We have written more about this on the page how to get to Plyos by car.
By bus
There are no direct bus routes from Kostroma to Plyos. You will need to make one transfer in the town of Privolzhsk, which is near Plyos.
- Buses from Kostroma to Privolzhsk run every hour from the bus station. Ticket prices start at 200 rubles. The journey takes over an hour.
- Please note that the bus usually does not enter Privolzhsk itself. You will need to get off at the "turn" stop near Privolzhsk, and then take a taxi to the bus station to catch a bus to Plyos. The local taxi number is +7 (49339) 3-43-44. You can order a car directly to Plyos for more convenience!
- Buses from Privolzhsk run every 1-2 hours. Ticket prices start at 60 rubles. The journey takes about 30 minutes.
Please note that tickets for interregional bus routes are purchased with a passport!
Keep in mind that buses are crowded during the high season. Buy tickets in advance. We recommend purchasing a return ticket upon arrival in Plyos at the bus station ticket office or online to ensure you have a seat and can return safely!
Along the Volga
Unfortunately, there is currently no regular river service between Kostroma and Plyos on the Volga.
However, you can book a private transfer on one of the speedboats operating in Plyos. You can find available options on the page “Boat Trip in Plyos” — many boat owners are ready to organize a trip along this route.
This season, the company “Vodolyot” announced the launch of regular routes on the Volga between Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl, but unfortunately, a stop in Plyos is not included in the schedule.
By taxi
All popular taxi aggregators operate in Kostroma. The cost of the trip is about 2,000 rubles. The travel time is 1 hour.
You can combine a trip from Kostroma to Privolzhsk by bus and from Privolzhsk to Plyos by taxi. For 2 people, the cost of the trip will be about 800 rubles, instead of 2,000 rubles.
