The museum, located in a historic building on Cathedral Hill, presents an exhibition that introduces the history of the Ivanovo region from ancient times to the 17th century. In five vaulted halls, archaeological finds are displayed, including women's jewelry from the 7th century, arrowheads, chainmail, and armor, as well as cult stones used in pagan rituals. The exhibition includes anthropological reconstructions, models of ancient fortresses, and a virtual fitting room that allows visitors to "try on" ancient Russian costumes or armor, immersing them in the atmosphere of the distant past.

The museum is dedicated to the rich heritage of traditional crafts of the Ivanovo region, including jewelry art, linen jacquard weaving, Palekh and Kholuy lacquer miniatures, as well as Ivanovo embroidery. Located on the Volga embankment, the museum showcases a variety of artistic techniques, from openwork filigree to complex jacquard patterns.
Museum of Primitive Hunters and Fishermen
Recreated prehistoric human settlement
The only museum in Russia dedicated to prehistoric hunters and fishermen transports guests to a recreated seasonal hunting camp from the Neolithic era (5th-3rd millennium BC). The exhibition's author, Pavel Nikolayevich Travkin, is a candidate of historical sciences, archaeologist, ethnographer, and specialist in tourism and museum affairs.
