An exhibition of works by the master of landscape painting Isaac Levitan from the collection of the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg). The exhibition features 17 works by Isaac Levitan, created at different periods of his life. Among the early works are landscapes painted in his youth in the Moscow region, filled with a sincere love for nature. Later works were created on the Black Sea coast, in Crimea, on Lake Ladoga, and other places.

Having become a recognized and affluent artist, Levitan often traveled abroad, attended exhibitions in Vienna and Paris, painted studies in southern France and northern Italy, and also visited Germany. One of the masterpieces created in Italy, the painting "Lake Como," is part of the Russian Museum's collection.

Particularly captivating are the autumn motifs in the works of the mature master. The exhibition includes two studies executed in the rare technique of pastel, which is distinguished by the richness of the finest halftones and the softness of shades. Levitan mastered this technique at the highest level.

Among Levitan's later works presented in the Russian Museum's collection, one can see the famous painting "Twilight. Moon." His images of Russian nature, such as village outskirts, haystacks, roads, steppes, and lakes, appear before the viewer in their simple yet remarkably expressive form.

The name of Isaac Levitan is forever linked with Plyos. It was here that paintings were created that became true gems of the collections of leading museums in Russia and private collections around the world.
