Plein Air in Plyos with a Local Artist

The painting workshop takes place outdoors in one of the beautiful corners of Plyos — in places where Russian artists, including the great Isaac Levitan, worked: on Cathedral Hill with a view of the Volga, on Levitan Hill near the wooden church, or on the embankment. You can also choose your own place if you particularly like it. In case of bad weather, the session is held in a cozy private gallery.

The format lasts about 2 hours. During this time, you will paint your own landscape in oil from life — from a blank canvas to a finished painting. The process is simple and clear: first the underpainting, then building the composition, working with light and air, and finally — details and accents. The master explains each stage and assists in the process, so participation is suitable even for those who have never painted before.

Memory of Plyos, Created by Your Own Hands

The master class is conducted by local painter Ilya Izumov, who was born in Plyos and has been painting landscapes from nature for over 20 years. He also runs the channel "Artist's Workshop," where he has gathered more than 300 interviews and tours of artists' studios from all over Russia. During the class, you will learn the basics of landscape painting: composition, conveying depth of space, and working with color. Throughout the master class, Ilya talks about Plyos, its artistic history, and shares professional techniques.

All materials are already included: paints, brushes, canvases, palettes, and aprons, so you don’t need to bring anything with you. You can participate alone, with a partner, or in a small group, for adults and children, regardless of skill level. At the end, the finished painting will be carefully packaged, and you will take it home as a memory of Plyos created by your own hands.
