A Guide in Love with Her Hometown
Svetlana is an accredited guide and expert on Plyos, in love with her hometown since childhood. She was born here, within the walls of the Gorbunov Hospital, and her childhood was spent among the legends and stories of old Plyos. Svetlana's family roots are closely connected to this place: her grandmother worked as a doctor in a sanatorium, her father in the "Berezhek" pioneer camp, and her mother worked in a grocery store on the Trade Square.
Svetlana has a higher historical education, dedicated more than 20 years to journalism, and for the last two decades has been actively working in the tourism industry. She is a member of the tourism coordination council under the governor of the Kostroma region, engaged in local history, and develops author tours in the Kostroma and Ivanovo regions. For her, guiding is not just a job, but a true passion and favorite hobby.
On her tours, Svetlana not only shows the sights but helps to feel the atmosphere of the city, to see Plyos as only the locals know it. Together with her, guests climb Cathedral Hill, learn the history of ancient fortresses and the specifics of conducting battles, visit the Assumption Cathedral with its amazing fate — from closure to revival.
You will walk along Nikolskaya Street, discover the secrets of old window frames, hear stories about Plyos merchants, retail trade, and the first cash register on the Bazaar Square. And, of course, there will be legends and myths — about the Plyos dragon and the mysterious owl, which are loved by both adults and children.
